ROLLING STONES "HOT ROCKS"  LONDON 2PS - 606/7 
EXTREMELY RARE MISPRESSING OF "HOT ROCKS" with DRAMATICALLY DIFFERENT ALTERNATE  TAKES OF TWO SONGS: 'BROWN SUGAR' and 'WILD HORSES'!  These two versions have NEVER been released on a legitimate Stones LP or CD!!!  These are NOT just different mixes - these are DIFFERENT TAKES altogether!
LET US BE CLEAR FROM THE OUTSET: THIS IS POSSIBLY THE BEST COPY OF THIS RARITY THAT HAS EVER BEEN OFFERED ON EBAY!
COVER CONDITION: EXCELLENT with some light wear to the edges and with some light ringwear. Heavyweight cardboard cover is crisp and clean overall.
VINYL CONDITION: NEAR MINT!! Without question, this is the best copy of this very rare album that you are bound to see - EVER!!!! The vinyl is incredibly clean with virtually no wear!! We sampled the two songs in question and they sound AMAZING!! You will NOT find a better copy ANYWHERE!!!
'BROWN SUGAR'  This take has rhythm section pushed all the way into the foreground, to the point where bass and drums are literally in-your-face. Bobby Keys' famous sax solo in the middle of the song is COMPLETELY MISSING, and so is the 'Lead guitar Solo'! Only Keith Richard's rhythm guitar is there, and Mick Taylor's fretwork appears to be either missing or is mixed out entirely! Vocal take seems to be the same as the released version. 
'WILD HORSES'  Mick Taylor's guitar, notably the intricate soloing by the end of the song, is missing. Includes what appears to be an absolutely DIFFERENT take of the vocal track than the version on the original album. Mick's singing is SUPERB and the version is substantially different than the version on regular issues of Hot Rocks or Sticky Fingers.  
Also includes the original inner sleeves and the "211 REASONS WHY" booklet which hypes the Stones' catalog. Both are in EXCELLENT condition with very little wear.
The 4th side of the album clearly shows the telltale marks which indicate that this is the VERY RARE pressing, as shown by our photos of "Shelley" and "11/18/71" etched in the dead wax of the trailoff groove!!
Upon its initial pressing (Nov. 18, 1971), alternate versions of Brown Sugar and Wild Horses were included on the Hot Rocks master plate. These versions first appeared in the brilliant 1970 documentary Gimme Shelter. Since there was no clear reference to their origin on the album cover, sleeve or label, one must look at the trail-off vinyl (the smooth vinyl located nearest the disc label) and look for the word Shelley and the date 11-18-71.
The identifying mark is not easy to locate or read, but the mystery does not end if and when it is found. It seems that this "alternate pressing" was soon pulled in favor of a set which contained the single versions of Brown Sugar and Wild Horses. However, Shelley wasn't quite done, as the name reappeared for a short time afterwards with either a later date, or no date at all.
The songs themselves differ greatly from the known versions. Brown Sugar is a lot closer to the demo version heard in the hotel room sequence of the Gimme Shelter movie while Wild Horses has some noticeable vocal reverb.
The original Shelley 11-18-71, with the alternate takes, rarely surfaces and is among the top ten US collectables. 
The labels are light blue and silver originals with boxed London logo and 'Stereophonic' text. The all important word 'Shelley' has been hand scratched on all four sides with the date 11-18-71 scratched into the run out groove on side four. Also present in the run out groove of side four is the XZAL11018 matrix number and 'STERLING' has been machine stamped.

After reportedly having been duped by Klein to unknowingly sign over the recording copyrights to all of their material from 1963 to 1970, The Rolling Stones left Decca and formed their own label, , with a new distributor. They recorded throughout 1970, releasing it the following spring. Although Klein—and now ABKCO—no longer had The Rolling Stones as clients, their fruitful catalogue was ripe for the picking and, thus, was quickly compiled as a double album greatest hits package.
  While the album carries most of the band's biggest hits during their first decade, it does drop a few of them in order to include standout tracks such as "Play With Fire", "Under My Thumb" and "Gimme Shelter" giving listeners a more well-rounded impression of The Rolling Stones' music in this era. Although 'BROWN SUGAR' and 'WILD HORSES' are part of 'Sticky Fingers', those two songs are co-owned by the band and Allen Klein because The Rolling Stones owed Decca one more single in 1970, and the band responded by submitting the unreleasable "Cxxksxxker Blues".

RECORD GRADING POLICY

MINT = like new or near new with only one or two small insignificant defects, a 9 or better on a 1-10 scale

EXCELLENT = Would be Near Mint, except for a couple of light hairlines or scuffs, which do not affect play

VG++ = still a very nice record with all or nearly all of its original gloss but may have a few more light, surface marks, hairlines, needle tracks or the like which should not materially affect play

VG+ = a nice, but used record that may have a series of light scuffs or scratches. It probably plays with a few pops, but has no serious problems.

VG = a well-used record that still should sound OK when played, but may have moderate surface noise, pops, etc.

VG- = a very well-worn record that plays through without skipping, but will do until a better copy comes along.

Good = not actually good at all but probably will play through but with much in the way of surface noise, pops, crackles, etc. Still, will have no cracks, chips or the like

Fair = you’re getting this record just to own but not to play

Poor = the sky’s the limit, generally I will discard a record this bad (and sell the cover, jacket or sleeve alone) unless the label holds some particular interest
