Description:
The UK MONO 1st pressing of this iconic Rolling Stones album is an extreme rarity. In 1969 most Decca 1st pressings appeared in common STEREO format, with only a limited number of mono copies pressed for 'Let it Bleed'. This was actually one of the last LPs to be made available in MONO on the label, before Decca ceased all production of MONO formats thereafter - This makes the MONO 1st pressing of Let it Bleed one of the most sought after rarities in the Rolling Stones collection!
What makes this LP even rarer still is that it is 100% complete - with its original stickered cover, the original colour poster insert, the original uncensored inner sleeve, and the original red unboxed 'ear' Decca labels!
Cover:
The 1st press front laminated cover is in excellent condition. The edges are in crisp and sharp with no seam splits & the spine is straight and fully legible. The front lamination is intact and remains fully stuck with a glossy finish. There are just one or two minor creases and some very light edge stains to the unlaminated cardboard back. The sleeve has the 1st press credits to the 'Upton printing group' and the back of the sleeve features the circular cut out 'indicator hole' which allows the inner sleeve to peep through, showing red for MONO. The rare 1st pressing 'cover sticker' which advertises the colour poster insert, is also present and in great condition!
Inner sleeve:
The 1st press 'Let it Bleed' inner sleeve is present and uncensored, with the 'London Bach Choir' credited under the song ''You can't always get what you want''. In subsequent pressings this credit was blacked out by a rectangular box.
The sleeve is in excellent (EX) condition with only some general creasing and neat name written in pen to the top left. There are no seam splits, no tears and no foxing which are common with these lightweight inners!
Poster:
The original Victor Khan designed poster is present and in excellent (EX) condition. The edges are crisp and sharp with the colour rich and unfaded. There are no rips, no tears, no writing and no foxing - the poster looks completely unused, showing no signs of having been pinned or tacked up on a wall!!
Vinyl:
The vinyl itself is in very good plus (VG+) condition of not better. The thick black vinyl retains a good sheen, with only a few superficial marks and hairlines showing up under strong light. Nothing which affects playback which is crisp and clear with no skips, jumps, pops or sticks etc.. Just some light background noise audible in some quieter run in/out sequences.
The red Decca labels are also in very good plus (VG+) condition. There are some light spindle marks around the centre of the labels and the previous owner has written his name neatly in pencil and stuck a small sticker down under the Decca logo. The labels have the 1st pressing unboxed Decca graphics and also feature the fffrr ear logo at 2oclock!
In all, a fantastic copy of this extremely rare MONO 1st pressing! Not one that comes up very often, so happy bidding.
