Description
On offer here is a mega rare first mono long version of Tell Me, 4 mins 6 secs on the grooved unboxed Decca label LK4605.There are many reasons why this is mega rare and really collectable. This is the first copy I have seen in 30 years. What makes it so special is that on track 4 side 1 mona is incorrectly listed on the label and also on the sleeve. In addition Honest I do has Hurran/Callvert miscredit on the sleeve and label. There is a Bozier miscredit on cover and label for Can I get a witness. On the cover, track 5 side 2 is shown as You can make it you try leaving out the word if.
Labels
I would grade both labels side 1 and 2 as EX.They are quite clean and bright with no writing on them, just a few spindle marks which you can see if you look closely.
Vinyl
This is a very clean copy..Even under the strongest light I could not see any scuffs or scratches just the odd very faint wispy line which would be caused by removing the record from the sleeve but in reality I am being very picky in mentioning these. Most Stones albums were played to death at parties on terrible players and were not looked after but this is a welcome exception. .There are no repeating grooves.Only on the quietest tracks was there a little background noise but this in no way spoiled the listening of the music and was hardly perceptible..The album has been cleaned with a professional cleaning machine worth £1000s but in reality I did not need to pay the fee for this.I would grade the vinyl EX .I have played it through on a Linn Sondek player with Goldring cartridge. It is amazing for a record 50 years old.It has been really well looked after and maybe played less than a dozen times.played with no dishing or warping. The matrix numbers are XARL 6271- 2A XARL 6272- 4A I am not an expert on matrices but this seems to be a very early pressing, one of the earliest ever.
Sleeve
This is the original front laminated flipback sleeve ,There is some creasing on the right front surface and near near the top but no tears or writing. but this is not really anything to worry about. The spine is undamaged with the lettering fully readable. These sleeves were flimsy and easily damaged with missing letters on the spine or not there at all but not this one. There is hardly any wear on the top and bottom spine edges .There is some feathering on the right edge from storage but little to worry about. The rear of the sleeve is slightly faded but of little consequence. Most of these sleeves are badly worn with trashed edges or tears and faded writing but not this one. There is no writing or names written on the sleeve.I would grade this sleeve as EX or EX- to be on the safe side.Just have a look at the photographs which give a good representation of this record and sleeve.I have taken photographs of all the edges including the spine and of the record itself. It comes with the original red mono inner sleeve in VG condition but these are easy to find and upgrade.
Overall ,I do not think this rare album will disappoint any winning bidder and to give everyone a chance,I have deliberately set a low start price for the auction. It goes without saying that if anyone is disappointed,I offer a compromise or a full refund..Please contact me directly if there is a problem. If you are secretly happy, please do not contact me simply to negotiate a lower price than the amount bid. This defeats the purpose of ebay.
Postage
I offer free postage to U.K.buyers and will ship world wide.£10 for Europe,£15 for rest of world.I have in the past excluded certain countries such as Russia and the Ukraine. In Russia sadly parcels are held up at customs ,go missing or the item can take 10 to 12 weeks to be delivered.Buyers would need to be patient and accept the purchase at their own risk but I will send all items tracked and can email a copy of the tracking receipt.I know some sellers have stopped sending to certain countries.
Payment
I refer PayPal in the U.K. but would accept a cheque or postal order.PayPal only rest of world.I do not have a facility to accept credit cards unless this is possible via PayPal.
