ROLLING STONES Some Girls 1978 1st Press Banned Cover STERLING COC39108 EX

PLAY TESTED!! Sounds great!

Some Girls was the Rolling Stones' full-throated answer to punk and disco — and it worked. Released in June 1978, it hit number one in the US, became their best-selling American album, and is widely considered their finest record since Exile on Main St. Opening with the disco-blues groove of "Miss You" and closing with "Shattered," the album is relentlessly focused — tight, lean, and mean. "Beast of Burden," "Far Away Eyes," "Before They Make Me Run," and "Respectable" fill out one of the strongest side twos in the Stones catalog. Ron Wood's first album as a full member, with Sugar Blue's harmonica cutting through "Miss You" and the title track like a blade.

This is an original US first pressing on Rolling Stones Records, yellow label, COC 39108. Distributed by Atlantic Recording Corporation.

This copy comes with the complete banned package — the original die-cut cover with peepholes through which the celebrity faces printed on the banned inner sleeve are visible, and the original banned inner sleeve itself featuring the full party photo collage on both sides. Shortly after release, legal threats from Lucille Ball, Farrah Fawcett, Raquel Welch, and the estates of Marilyn Monroe and Judy Garland forced a recall and replacement of both cover and inner. Complete original banned packages in this condition are not easy to find.

Mastered at Sterling Sound by Ted Jensen — one of the most respected mastering engineers in the business, responsible for some of the finest-sounding rock records of the era. TJ appears in the deadwax on both sides.

Pressed at Monarch Record Mfg. Co., with metal parts supplied by Presswell — confirmed by the Monarch delta numbers and (PR) plating identifier in the deadwax on both sides.
