THE ROLLING STONES – Through The Past Darkly ORIG Decca LP // LK 5019 (UK, Mono, 1969)
Happy to present a truly fabulous original unboxed mono copy of Big Hits Vol. 2. This copy is ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING – the sleeve has survived brilliantly, the red octagonal paper inner is the best I’ve ever seen (honestly!) and the vinyl looks factory fresh. A truly amazing copy which should satisfy even the most demanding top-grade Stones collector.

The octagonal Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve is a really nice example. One single handling crease to the front centre (small), a tiny area of laminate peel to the front right edge and some minor edge ruffle to the top front edge is about all to report. You’ll know how fragile this sleeve is and its shape meant it was HARD TO STORE PROPERLY. Many have severe edge or spine wear but not this one. There’s NO splits, tears, writing. NO folding or severe creasing. It shows a few light signs of age but it’s one of the best I’ve seen and I’m sure it will please. Grades TRUE and full EX (Excellent) condition.
The octagonal red paper inner is in EX+ (Excellent Plus) shape. Just one small crease to one corner, otherwise looking near to new. No writing or splits. Superb.
The red ‘ffrr / ear’ mono labels are just lovely – no writing, rips, residue or dirt. Possibly a fine spindle line to each side. Terrific set of these vintage unboxed Decca labels!
The medium weight vinyl is the BEST I’ve come across. The state of the labels would suggest that this record has hardly seen any play and the disc’s surfaces back this up. Virtually full shine NO scratches, NO hairlines or real scuffing. Looks beautiful! Very similar to how it would have looked back in the UK shops of Autumn 1969 when it was released. NO dust pockets, craters, dimples, embedded dirt or bag rash. One tiny (non-sounding) mark to ‘Ruby Tuesday’ but a real stunner which must grade M- (Mint Minus) and will surely satisfy!
IT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO THROUGHOUT (BOTH SIDES). The play grade matches the visual one at M- (Mint Minus). So expect NO snap, crackle or pops, NO hiss, clicks or whoosh and NO distortion or loss of clarity / lack of definition. I didn’t even hear any soft ticks or dust static. A top Mono player which should not disappoint. Brilliant!
A really lovely original which must be one of the best still out there. Top grade Stones collectors don’t miss this one!
