ROSALÍA Los Ángeles 2022 Universal Spain 2LP Repress Rare Flamenco Debut EX/EX
---
Los Ángeles is Rosalía's 2017 debut — a spare, devastating flamenco record made with just her voice and guitarist Raül Refree. Recorded and mixed at Calamar Studios in Barcelona, it draws from traditional cante forms — alegrías, tangos, fandangos, tarantas, malagueñas — built around a central theme of death, loss, and grief. The production is almost severity itself: no ornament, no excess, just Rosalía's voice and Refree's guitar stripped to the bone.
Pitchfork called it "an intimate understanding of the flamenco canon through an aesthetic closer to minimalist indie rock." AllMusic said her voice is "a tornado capable of sweeping away any cultural or language barriers." The album closes with a transcendent cover of Will Oldham's "I See a Darkness" — the same song Johnny Cash covered — which tells you everything about what Rosalía and Refree were reaching for. It led to her first Latin Grammy nomination and set the foundation for one of the most remarkable careers in contemporary music.
This is the 2022 Spanish repress on Universal Music Spain — the most sonically desirable and currently the most sought-after vinyl edition of this album. Pressed in the EU. Mastered at Sterling Sound, New York by Alex Psaroudakis. Double LP, gatefold. Red labels — "ROSALÍA" on Side A and Side C, "Los Ángeles" on Side B and Side D. Original black paper inner sleeves included. Track listing printed in red type on back cover. White box around barcode on back cover — a distinguishing feature of this 2022 repress. This pressing is currently unavailable at retail and has no copies listed on eBay globally.
