The Monument Vinyl Box both celebrates and enriches the legacy of Roy Orbison, one of the rock and roll era’s pioneering singer-songwriters. This special box includes his three original classic albums for Monument Records, featuring fully-restored artwork and sounding better than ever remastered on 180-gram vinyl. These records are now joined by Oh! Pretty Woman- the missing Monument masterpiece curated by Roy’s own sons – a newly-imagined fourth album that could have, and should have, been released as its title track was topping the charts in late 1964. Roy’s voice rings as true today as it did more than 50 years ago- and this entire set captures the legend at his peak.

·       CONDITION:

·       RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VERY GOOD++ . CAUTION: The vinyl is NOT MINT or NEAR MINT, but is nevertheless in a very nice and clean condition. There are some surface marks and abrasions, mostly light and superficial, although some may be longer than 1.1/4 inches (1 inch = 2.5 centimeters)  [NOTE: the condition of the vinyl is pretty uniform and consistent across the eight sides and is generally in the VG++ condition overall; 'Crying' (second volume) is in a slightly better condition than the remaining three titles, but only by a very slim margin]

(b)          The record comes in a hi-grade PVC inner sleeve, which has - apparently with success - shielded the record from the harmful impact of elements over many years!

(c)           The records are pressed on a beautiful, high-quality, virgin-grade vinyl, which is usually used for audiophile, extended-dynamic-range, half-speed mastered and connoisseur pressings.

(d)          In addition, the records are pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible 200-gram vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(e)           The box set comes with original 1-page insert with liner notes and track listing and sessionography.

(f)            Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       INDIVIDUAL COVERS

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the covers:

-        ALL FOUR COVERS HAVE TINY CRACKS IN THE SPINE (NOT YET SPLIT SEAMS, BUT CLOSE), APPARENTLY FROM SHIFTING IN TRANSIT

-         All four volumes have two corners on the spine slightly dinged  / bent  (nothing significant)

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No ring wear

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-        No yellowing from aging

-        No writing

-        No stamps

-        No peel-off marks

-        No stains

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No stickers or labels

-        No water damage

-        No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or  cuts.

-        No warping

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover
