1974 MOON
STEREO MN 100

Originally formed in 1969, it took 5 years for this great debut album to be released. It was in the beginning of 1974 after some delay With the personnel consisting of ALEX LIFESON, GEDDY LEE & original drummer JOHN RUTSEY. This is the incredible debut album on RUSH’s own label MOON RECORDS. Recorded at Eastern Sound studios in 1973 and remixed in Toronto by Terry Brown, and limited to 3500 copies throughout the world, not something that turns up too often. This classic was not in circulation too long before RUSH hit the big time and this great album got re-issued on the more common MERCURY label. For anyone out there who does not know, The MOON original has a RED colored logo, opposed to PINK on later MERCURY and ANTHEM pressings. The credits on the back cover also differ to later pressings as you can see in the photo's below.
The hard carded sleeve typical of US and Canadian pressings, is extremely clean, and in superb near excellent condition. No writings or vandalism what so ever. The spine is also very clean, all lettering perfectly readable. A very nice example of this rock classic. If looking for flaws I would say there is the lightest of ring wear, hardly noticeable, also if nit picking, one of the corners is bunched, this is due to fact that these albums were originally sold sealed tight in cellophane. See the photos for yourself, For an album of such rareness, this truly is a very nice example.
The thick vinyl I would describe visually as very good. The light blue labels are free from any writing or vandalism and hardly any spindle wear. There are several surface scratches to be seen which are purely cosmetic and do not effect the listeners enjoyment, in fact there is very little noise to interfere with the music. Audibly this album sounds fantastic, and in my opinion a much warmer sound than the thinner vinyl used in later pressings. In fact I would say listening to this album on a good turntable is a true pleasure. Every track goes through nicely, all though there is light popping to be heard in the quiet beginning of BEFORE AND AFTER, but is long forgotten as the last track WORKING MAN ends this great debut album.
ALL ITEMS WILL BE PACKED WELL AND A CERTIFICATE OF POSTING WILL BE USED
As a collector myself, I know how frustrating and disappointing it is to receive a tatty item which bears very little resemblance to the description given. I try hard to be as accurate as I can when grading, and use all sources available - including the 'Record Collector Grading System
Nor will I neglect to mention glaringly obvious vandalism such as writing on the label or sleeve. Which amazingly have been omitted from a lot of descriptions to purchases I have unfortunately gone on to make!
