Check out all Seven photos to see these TWO UNPLAYED issues of RUSH 'Permanent Waves' LP (Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab Records #MFSL 1-302 with etchings in the runoff/deadwax zones: "MFSL 1-302 A1" followed by "E.S.&B.@T.M." and "SRB/2" / "MFSL 1-302 B2 SRB/2" followed by "Eek!"; MERCURY Records #SRM 1-4001; with etchings in the run-off/deadwax zones: "PRC SRM4001 Ach 8-1-11" / "SRM-1-4001-B-PRC-R-3-1-1 MASTERDISK") featuring "The Spirit Of The Radio", "Freewill", "Jacob's Ladder", "Entre Nous", "Different Strings", and "Natural Science" >> NEITHER HAVE EVER BEEN PLAYED. I bought these two a few months apart last year & REMOVED THEIR FACTORY WRAP to inspect (and to take a few photos) because I originally had plans to keep them as part of my listening library but I haven't owned a turntable in a few years & it will probably be a while before I buy a new one, IF I buy one at all. My loss is your gain. No one else has access to my collection so I am 1000% certain that they have only been handled (& VERY briefly) by me. I've been surfing eBay for two years and have built up a collection of over 400 cherry-picked vintage LPs (99.9% factory sealed and NO Record Clubs) and I've decided to sell them (I have about 130 left).
>> MFSL heavy-weight audiophile vinyl is beautiful & factory-fresh & comes in it's original MFSL Master Inner Sleeve but there's NO MFSL COVER. When I purchased it, I thought MFSL did a poor job on the cover (too dark & poor transfer of the image) and so I disposed of it and inserted the vinyl, inside it's sleeve, with my original issue in it's polybag.
>> Shimmering lighter-weight original-issue vinyl is in factory-fresh condition (just as you would expect) with only the slightest of ghostly marks present on Side B. Visible only from a certain angle and should have NO effect on the audio. You see some of these factory-incurred, lightest-of-marks sometimes (especially on LPs of the late 70s & onwards and also those LPs that have heavier-gauge paperboard inner sleeves).
>> Vintage original glossy Mercury inner sleeve (with photos & lyrics) has a little wavy-ness in a couple of spots with a few creases from the original insertion.
>> Nice Medium-Gloss Original-issue Cover has one very small corner bump to the upper right & small wear to three of the corner tips (from 31 years of tight shrinkwrap); Two crease-wrinkles (one approaching the spine & one hairline on the backside approaching the spine); there is a small, thin superficial cut-line in the shape of a rectangle & about the size of a postage stamp in the upper right quadrant >> very light & not noticeable unless the light hits it just right; NO discoloration, NO water damage, NO cutouts, punch holes, nor writing; NO promo stamps; NO seam splits; spine print is VERY nicely centered; VERY mild vinyl edge imprint on cover (no wear); NO Record Club; NO Barcode.
>> The cover depicted the famous incorrect headline "Dewey Defeats Truman" on a newspaper in the bottom left corner.
However, the Chicago Tribune (the paper that originally published the error) pressured the band to remove the headline. Some versions appear altered with either "Dewei Defeats Truman" or a blanked section (this one is blanked).
The billboards in the distance (mid-right) originally read "Coca-Cola." However, the cola company objected to the use of their logo and the cover was changed to display the band members names in a similar typestyle to the original logo.
