This is a nice copy of the soundtrack for "RYAN'S DAUGHTER". It is wonderfully AUTOGRAPHED by Maurice Jarre to Michael in French dated August 1981. (This album was purchased years ago from an estate sale at Michael Butler's house. (Mr. Butler was the original Producer of the musical "Hair" on Broadway)
SIDE ONE
MAIN TITLE This is the music which is heard at the very beginning of the picture. 4:30
WHERE WAS I WHEN THE PARADE WENT BY? (THE MAJOR) The Theme composed for Major Randolph Doryan (Christopher Jones) is first heard when the Major arrives at the little village. 2:32
"YOU DON'T WANT ME THEN" This is heard when Rosy (Sarah Miles) is going to the schoolhouse to declare her
love to Charles (Robert Mitchum). 2:53
MICHAEL'S THEME Michael (John Mills), the village idiot, is in love with Rosy. 3:10
RIDE THROUGH THE WOODS The two lovers find a secret place and make love for the first time. In this piece of music we can hear the "swarmandala" solo. 2:47
OBSESSION Rosy is in bed with her husband, Charles, but her thoughts are with Randolph. 2:01
SIDE TWO
OVERTURE Fragments of the Irish Theme are used, during which nine harps are heard. This is followed by ROSY'S THEME, which is sometimes referred to as "Wings." The music represents Rosy's great expectations from life. Then we hear variations of MICHAEL'S THEME. 3:59
THE SHAKES This music underlines the scene of Rosy's first meeting with Randolph in the Pub. The incessant tapping of Michael's foot brings a horrifying recollection to Randolph of rifle fire and his recent unfortunate war experiences. 2:08
ROSY ON THE BEACH A scene of Rosy walking on the sand — young, full of life and a great expectation of love. 1:39
SONG OF THE IRISH REBELS The people of the village come to help Tim O'Leary (Barry Foster) during the storm. 2:06
ROSY AND THE SCHOOLMASTER Walking on the beach before they are married, Rosy tries to conceal her love for the schoolmaster, Charles. 2:42
