Extremely rare 1950's French Chant du Monde LP with amazing performances.
Just like it is a matter of luck to attend a concert where really something special takes place,
it is also a mere matter of change if such magic happens in the recording studio. This is one of those LPs
where real magic was caught. It is a curious issue: side one the so called SONATE F.A.E. that is a pastiche of 4 movements composed by Albert Dietrich, Schumann, Brahms and again Schumann.
One day Dietrich, Schumann and Brahms visted the violinst JOSPEPH JOACHIM. Schumann proposed to write a sonata together and the SONATA F.A.E. was the result.
It was performed that day by Joachim & clara Schumann. Here beautifully played by PETER RYBAR and HELENE BOSCHI.
Side two contains Schumann's "WILHELM MEISTER", a poem book by Goethe, and is performed by the granddaughter of the above mentioned violinist
Jospeph Joachim, IRENE JOACHIM and BASIA RETCHITZKA and ANDRE VESSIERES, accompannied by HELENE BOSCHI.
Besides being a rarely beautiful performance this is also an extremely rare, early/mid 50s LP that hardly ever turns up.
France, Chant du Monde, LDX-S-8143, sleeve VG+, record looks weak VG++, hardly any surface marks but at the edges there are
very light marks that crackle & pop. Listen to the soundclips above.
