Rabin 'Mosaics' Violin MEGA RARE = Capitol SP 8506 LP
missionsellit Store
Mega rare Michael Rabin Violin STEREO copy of 'Mosaics'
Here is a sound sample of one track on side B, read on and turn the volume up, (it plays automatically)
LP & Jacket Near Mint minus, the cleanest you could expect, possibly rarely if ever played. Photo No.3 is a facsimile of the original American cover to jog your memory, but that cover artwork is NOT INCLUDED IN THIS SALE
The sound sample will tell you why everyone wants a copy of this superb recording of Rabin playing his Guarneri Violin, (Now owned by Kyung Wha Chung). Some prefer the tone of a Guarneri above the seemingly more popular Stradivarius violins from the same timeframe in Italy.
This LP has the same master stampers as the collectible and MEGA Rare Capitol USA pressing stock number SP 8506. (Rabin cancelled his recording contract in 1959 (?) I have read, so there are very few of his recordings ever released in Stereo format. He died tragically in 1972 at the tender age of 35)

Record cover and LP came to me in NM minus condition, I suspect rarely played. (3 little non sounding fine scuffs on edge side 1)
Stamper (Wax Codes)
Side A SP1 8506 - 6
Side B SP2 8506 - 8
This is rarer than the USA pressing, sold in the 60's in Australia by the EMI Mail order club in Australia (World Record Club) who issued many LP's from Decca, Columbia UK ,HMV and Capitol. Although I have never heard the American pressed Mosaics disc, I have had all three (UK, USA and WRC OZ ) copies of Capitol's "The Magic Bow" by Rabin, I sold the two least dynamic recordings and kept the best one for myself.
Yes I kept the Australian pressed one !! Why am I selling this??, because I have access to another one, so I am letting someone else get a great analogue vinyl copy from the original master stampers of this classic recording.
Michael Rabin and Leon Pommers playing a 'mosaic' of well known duets, this is one of my all time favorite records, precision playing on a great instrument. Full track list see supersized photo of labels or Jacket reverse.
same master stamper as US pressed SP 8506 (visible in supersize photo's)
Record fully test played and treated with archive preservative(LAST), test play report below
If you already have an original Capitol USA pressing, Buy THIS lp and You can play it instead of wearing out your original SP 8506 investment !
These are probably rarer than the originals, issued in a country at the time in the 60's with a total population of 12 million people, and only available by mail order (A lot of Aussies back then had to buy by mail, not many people lived near a record retailer back then. I lived on a farm 300 km from a record shop(Big Country)Check out my other items Audiophile and Classical
- International Buyers Please Note:

NO..... I will not reduce the stated value of the LP on any customs declarations, Australia post bases its insurance on the declared value, so if I understate it I am at risk of losing its value should it go missing, You as a buyer are covered by paypal protection, so bid accordingly.
NO .... Paypal does not cover me if its not insured, I know I have looked into the situation EXTENSIVELY!!
Condition (see Photo's)COVER- The exclusive Australian World Record Club cover is NM minus, and is from the transition period where the mono cover was used and a large sticker attached to the front cover (see photo). That makes this a very early pressing from the Australian master stamper. There is no corner bends, no seam splits or tears, only very minimal ring wear. (more an embossing in the cardboard) Rear unlaminated cover is slightly yellowed with age.
LP' in some quiet parts of the recording it has the occasional static crackle (non repetetive) but I think you will be paying many hundreds extra to get a USA copy this clean.
LP is shiny with Minimal paper scuffs only in very bright light . Three faint hairline scuffs non sounding on side A
LP was dust free and clean, A couple of light rotational spindle marks on both sides labels, the original pressing lustre is as good as the day it left the press.Record has been wet washed in a Knosti record bath and a treatment of 'Last' Record Preserver (said to protect against wear damage for upto 200 plays) Most audiophiles such as yourself are probably already using the treatment, but at least I've saved you the effort and the expense.
Has it's original clear world record club dust jacket.
But I have put the newly cleaned LP in an archive quality dust jacket as made by MFSL, the well renowned modern audiophile suppliers.
Won't spend too much time (?) waffling so any specific questions please email me.

TO BE PROPERLY INSURED, I WILL NOT UNDER DECLARE THE SALE PRICE OF THE ITEM,
I CAN ONLY INSURE BASED ON THE CUSTOMS DECLARATION STATED VALUE, PLEASE BE AWARE SHOULD YOU BE LIABLE FOR ANY CUSTOMS ON A SECOND HAND LP IN YOUR COUNTRY, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT PAYMENT (UK, Sth Korea, Germany and possibly Malaysia at least, probably more, has this problem I believe, )
In other words, buyers asking me to understate the customs declaration on this item need not bid, as I flatly refuse under international law to do so. (Last Buyer who did that gave neg feedback (it was retracted obviously) as they thought it was my fault they had taxes to pay(?????)
RULES FOR BIDDING
DOES ANYBODY READ THIS?? I THINK NOT BASED ON RECENT BIDDING ACTIVITY ON MY ITEMS!! PLEASE READ...
If you have hidden feedback, or
less than 98% positive, or
less than 50 recent visible positives, (that's NEW EBAY registrations with little activity yet, that have proven your good buying habits) THEN -
I would appreciate email contact first to establish your credentials. Credentials mean that I need to know you will be paying with VERIFIED PAYPAL account, and I of course will only be mailing to that verified address. DON'T EXPECT TO GET MY PERMISSION IN THE LAST 2 HOURS OF BIDDING, DO IT BEFOREHAND. (Buyers who have had trouble free transactions with me already qualify of course, regardless of the feedback status)
Winning bids unpaid after 7 days will be reported as non paying bidder and item opened to second chance offer.
HAPPY BIDDING, QUESTIONS WELCOME
