Description
This very handsome and rather rare 2 LP set from Capitol (PBR 8477, US rainbow pressing, mono, booklet included) features legendary violinst Michael Rabin's legendary traversal of Paganini's 24 Caprices Op. 1 for Unaccompanied Violin – recorded 5 to 9 September 1958. Rabin is perhaps one of the few virtuosos who cannot be over-rated: he transcends any hype and there is not a dull bar from beginning to end – indeed, much of Rabin’s recorded legacy remains simply unsurpassed, and there is no finer calling card for his bewitching talents than his beautiful set of Paganini's 24 Caprices Op. 1.
CONDITION: Copies of this set are often missing the fine 4-page booklet, but this set has it and in near-MINT condition (a very minor bend to the upper edge – otherwise free of any defect whatsoever. The sturdy outbox remains in near-MINT condition (no seamsplits, bends, nor owners' markings, the cover retaining its fine laminate sheen. The LPs are in flawless, MINT condition. Indeed, if there is a finer copy of this set, I should like to see it – very much a gorgeous collector's copy.
All LPs are play-graded and carefully cleaned.
