Description
Ramon Navarro - Audio Scriptions Inc.
This is an unusual find and one that will interest both record collectors and hollywood memorabilia collectors!
Two 12" 78 RPM Acetates of the radio program, "Theatre Revue". This show broadcast every Friday night at 9:30 on WMCA in New York City from the Fox Theatre in Brooklyn. This broadcast dates from September 10, 1937 and features a rare performance by the great Ramon Navarro!!!
Grade: VG+ - VG++ (these acetates are in as found condition, I tested them on my turntable and they play quite nicely, but need cleaning. I am not trained in cleaning Acetates or Transcription discs, so I have not touched them)
Several have asked what these discs are and in listening to them, they are excerpts from Mr. Navarro's portion of this radio program. The first disc is a commercial and opening introductions to the radio program.
Second side, Mr. Navarro plays the piano! He also sings a Spanish song....I cannot decipher the title, but he sounds quite lovely with full orchestra.
Third side: radio announcer describes Navarro going through the audience and giving the girls a thrill (ha-ha) and starts singing the end of the previous Spanish song. He then sings another song, but the title is not announced. There are several small skips where the recording company must have slipped over some dialogue. Apparently they had him on to celebrate his new picture "The Sheik Steps Out" perhaps they are songs from this film?
The fourth side, he is introduced again and he talks to the audience a bit, makes the girls scream...recording then moved to the end of the program with closing remarks by the announcer.
