REDUCED FOR NEW YEAR SUPER BARGAIN!!! Here we have for organ fans three rare classical albums on 10" LP's!  (see below for 10"history). First is Columbia's release of Virgil Fox at the organ of the Riverside Church of New York of "Romantic Reveries", including Wagner's Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin, Tchaikovsky's None but the Lonely Heart, Hugh McAmis Dreams, Greig's Ich Liebe Dich, Godard's Berceuse from Joclyn and Mendelssohn's Wedding March.  The Second album is "Immortal Melodies of the Organ" on Varsity label featuring Lohengrin's Wedding March, Oh Promise Me, Because, Love's Old Sweet Song, Meditation from Thais, The Rosary, Ave Maria and Reverie.  The third album features Jesse Crawford doing 8 Strauss Waltzes on the Parade Label.  Three albums, very rare and at a bargain price for all three!
BACKGROUND HISTORY OF 10" LP ALBUMS:  Beginning in about 1946 the recording industry "invented" the long-play album using 33-1/3rpm speed rather than 78rpm, in order to put more than one song on each side of the record.  To save money, they utilized the old stamping machines which accommodated 10" records, but used the new speed technology.  This was an experimental time, as the industry waited for enough people to buy new record players with the 33-1/3 capability, therefore THEY STAMPED A LIMITED SUPPLY OF EACH RELEASE between the years of 1946 and 1955, after which they graduated to the now familiar 12" size to accommodate even more songs per side.  This album is one of those rare releases, still in wonderful playing condition and playable on all standard 33-1/3rpm equipment.  A super find at a great price!   Check out my other items!
