Description
Rare 1971 Freddie King Getting Ready LP - Uncensored Superman Cover - Shelter - Banned Logo
A true "Transition Copy" for the serious blues or Shelter Records collector. This 1971 first pressing features the original uncensored logo on the jacket, while the vinyl label features the "Black Box" censored logo following the DC Comics trademark dispute.
Condition Report:
- Vinyl: Plays with some surface noise. Several light scratches on both sides, with one more prominent mark on Side 2.
- Labels: Red Capitol-distributed labels. Some "spindle trail" marks around the center hole and minor flaking/chipping of the red paper label (see photos).
- Cover: Good structural integrity. Shows ring wear and shelf wear, but the original "Superman" egg logo is clearly visible and unmasked.
- Inner Sleeve: Includes a vintage plain white paper inner sleeve.
Provenance: Sourced from a private collection formerly belonging to a Jazz Radio Station. As a station copy, this was likely among the earliest 1971 pressings received for airplay, which aligns with the rare Uncensored Cover variant.
The record hasn't been cleaned by the seller and it is left to buyer to clean.
