Rare 33 LP RECORD 1976 Jazz Rock Fusion MARK PIERSON BAND SONGS FOR SIRENS
During this past year, we were blessed to acquire (2) world class LP & 78 RPM
record
collections which we have been dispersing during the past months on eBay. We are coming down to the last of these. These LP records came from an estate group assembled by a man who worked for over 20 years in the East Carolina University (ECU) Music Library in Greenville, NC. His interest was mostly Classical & Opera, both LPs & also 78s. Some Jazz, Blues, Gospel & unusual scholastic related stuff came in from this collection also.
This lifelong collection of records was assembled by a discriminating, condition only, audiophile collector. While, I can not play test these LPs because I do not own a turntable, I am happy to report that the vast majority of these albums remain in immaculate to near immaculate EX to NM condition—for the most part, clean shiny vinyl with little to no visual evidence of playware or scratching present, in near pristine jackets.
Please see the many excellent feedbacks that we have received from the records from this huge estate collection!
Lucky for my eBay friends, the fastidious man who amassed this collection simply did not collect any wax that was not in really really nice condition!! His modus operandi of collecting was to immediately commit the LP to tape or CD (& later to hard drive) and then to store the record in his 2 room collection, never to be handled again.. Hence, some of these records have a recording date written on the sleeve.
His wife said that the records remained otherwise undisturbed & unplayed in his collection, as he played his music collection through cassette tapes, and later through CD's.
Understanding that many LP record collectors do not use liquid cleaners, I have not cleaned any of these discs with any liquid cleaners or anything else for that matter. Some were simply wiped will a dry micro fiber cloth. Hence, some records will show some minor prints, dust & surface soiling. We’ll allow the new owner to clean as they see fit.
I will not describe the jacket condition as a picture is worth a 1000 words in this realm. If there are any seem splits, they will be noted & photoed. In the case of cut outs, the area will be photoed.
In this auction, you will receive:
Rare 1976 Private Press 33 LP RECORD Jazz Rock Fusion MARK PIERSON BAND "SONGS FOR SIRENS"
An album that simply never surfaces and is deemed by many Jazz Rock Fusion enthusiasts as one of the great lost gems of the genre!
Incredibly rare instrumental jazz / rock / fusion lp by The Mark Pierson Band "Songs for the Sirens". ORIGINAL US PRESSING released on Gothic Records in 1976. Incredibly rare private press spiritual/fusion jazz from Worscester, MA. Fine quartet led by the talented Mark Pierson, who plays guitar and flute, and composed all of the tunes (except the spontaneously improvised “Prelude” and “Aftermath”). With Richard Gaddis (drums, percussion), Mark Gordon (guitar) and Richard Kaczynski (bass, percussion).
I'm listening on Youtube right now & this is groovy as all get-out!!
Crisp drumming, soaring flute... awesome wah wah guitar!!!
In a plain white generic jacket, this recording rates in the high VG+ range visually. The record shows almost no ticks, scratches or other such evidences of playware but has a few careless flaws/ scratches/ scuffs present.
Side A has a few scratches. Only (2) scratches are deep enough to catch the tip of the fingernail and they are all on Side A.
"Prelude" has the three scuff scratches that you see and (1) of them can just be caught by the nail and measures 1/8" in size.
The next song "Songs for the Sirens" has a single 3/8" scratch that also can just be caught by the finger nail. These will sound with a good audible pop but closest 5X inspection makes me believe that none go so deeply into the grooves to cause a skip.
Sibe B has a wide surface scuff to the dead wax ending that really does not appear to affect the playing grooves much at all, using 5X loupe inspection. At the worst, the last 30 seconds or so (of Side B) might have a little background hissing/ crackling present.
The good news is that there are really no other flaws to this disc at all which saw no real playing time!!
All of these flaws are well shown in the last (7) detail images and there are no scratches at all on Side B.
If indeed, any of the (Side A) scratches do cause the record to skip, please feel free to return it for a full refund with the shipping paid for you both ways. I do want you to be satisfied!!
Considering the collection that this disc came from, the condition should indeed be an auditory delight for you!!
Please also see the other exceedingly well preserved 33 LP sides that we are also listing on eBay at this time. Buy a group and save on shipping!
