DESCRIPTION OF ITEM >>> This is a rare ASCH record set simply titled "Blues". The front cover artwork is by David Martin. His signature is on the cover. Please see close-up picture above. The artists in this album include Josh White, Woody Guthrie, Nora Lee King, Mary Lou Williams, Champion Jack Dupree, Cisco Houston & Blind Sonny Terry. Please see list below for the songs that are in this record set. The album set also includes the original tri-folded enclosure that you see in the pictures above. It includes introductory notes by Charles Edward Smith. The record labels all have "MADE IN U.S.A NOT LICENSED FOR RADIO BROADCASTING" written on them. CONDITION OF ITEM >>> The overall condition of all the records is excellent for their age, although as you can see in the pictures above there are some minor scattered smudges, spots and/or stains. The record labels are all in excellent condition for their age with only some minor signs of wear due to aging, which should be expected. The wear is no worse than what you see in the close-up picture of one of the labels. The cardboard record cover has the expected wear that is due to the normal process of aging, use, storage and the movement of the set from place to place. This wear is mostly noticeable on the corners and/or edges. Please note the exposed white area in the center of the right side of the front cover. There is also some noticeable spotting on the back cover. The front cover has some scattered "bubbles" but this is just a minor cosmetic problem. The inside of both covers also has some noticeable spotting but as you can see in the pictures above it is also minor. The black outer binding is still nice and tight for its age although, the spine, where the album title, artist and album set number is located has faded quite a bit. You can still read the word "Blues" but there are 3 spots of what I believe is silver paint surrounding the word. The binding on the inside is also still nice and tight although due to the age of the set I believe that if it is not handled with great care it will start to fall apart. The 3 separate record sleeves inside the cardboard cover are all in excellent condition with no problems that are worth mentioning other than the discoloration due to aging. The original tri-folded enclosure has some signs of wear but is very nice condition for its age. There is no unwanted writing anywhere. Please note, and I can't stress this point enough, that the record set has a really sharp musty odor due to it being stored in a basement for such a long period of time. It is mostly noticeable when the set is opened. If there is anything I have missed, or if I haven't answered your particular question or questions please feel free to e-mail me. I pack all my items safely and securely but please understand that once the package is out of my hands I have no control over its safety. I feel I should not be held responsible for a package that is beyond my control. The insurance will help you get the value back for your item. The post office will not reimburse you for damage unless they see the package as it was just after you discovered the potential damage.
