Description

Up for auction is the SUPER RARE and highly sought after April 1969 Capitol Records manufactured Beatles' 45 on the Red and White Star Line label for "We Can Work It Out b/w Daytripper" Capitol 5555!!!! Bruce Spizer authors about this 45 in his book THE BEATLES SWAN SONG" at page 219 that "After Capitol phased out its swirl labels, the factory (Jacksonville) mistakenly pressed a very limited run on this single with the new red and white circle Star Line label Capitol 5555.55 (Spizer). this variation is extremely rare." Bruce also pictured on page 226 the 45 in its rare "Super Oldies" dust sleeve as I have done with mine in the above photos...Bruce further writes in his book THE BETLES STORY ON CAPITOL RECORDS Part One (2007) at page 88 (with record label photos), that "this variation, Capitol 5555.55 (Spicer) is the only Beatles' 45 pressed with this label and is one of the rarest and most valuble of the Capitol singles." Perry Cox has described the record in his US Price Guide on collecting Beatles' Records (2007)  6th Edition, that "the mistake was quickly realized and production halted. this item is a unique rarity and is valued accordingly." Perry further pictured and valued the 45 (in 2007) on page 80 as : $3000 in Near Mint condition."

On to my 45, as you can see from the photos I believe mine is a close near mint or at the very least a strong VG++....it's my opinion and you need to look closely and form your own opinion....feel free to ask any questions by email before bidding.....if you can find scuffs on either side they are mild and barely noticeable...the labels are very clean with the slightest of marks as seen in the photos....vinyl is very glossy and the best I have seen since I sold my other one a couple of months ago...this record also has the "picket" raised edge stamping (my words) in the perimeter area around the label on both sides of the disc....the SUPER OLDIES dust sleeve is VG+ but has a hand pencil mark of numbers inside mouth that can be erased or I have an extra sleeve to supply whichever is better.......the numbers hand etched in the trail off area of Side one are as follows: 45 45377 5555 P15 #2...there is a hand etched "O" in the 9 o'clock position also...Side two: 45 45378 5555 P15 #1......If you are looking for an arguably Top 11 most valuble/collectible Beatles' US 45, then here it is and in primo condition....rarely seen on ebay or at other auction houses, the last, I believe, being my other copy that sold a couple of months ago....

Payment by PayPal only within 24 hours of auction's end please....do not bid if you cannot afford the piece....Shipped next business day after payment posted via USPS Priority with tracking and signature receipt required...No 0% feedback bidders please....Foreign bidders welcomed except Canada where I have had problems with non payment from winning bidders recently...Foreign winning bidder will have to pay more for shipping than shown above plus receipt time is longer......All sales are final so please ask any questions by email before bidding...No refunds or returns on this piece....I reserve the right to end the auction early prior to the first bid as the item may be sold locally....check out my 100% feedback for over 15 years on ebay!! Thanks and good luck!
