Rare Beatles Haishan Label, Red Vinyl

Found this in 2007 at a thrift store in Mendocino. CA ( forget which one). Strange story. I was looking at a Peter, Paul and Mary album cover and really wasn't interested in buying it but thought, "Well, what the heck, let's check the condition of the vinyl." Lo and behold, it's red vinyl and...it's not PPM but "Meet The Beatles" on the Haishan (Taiwan) label.

Cool, huh? Well, I happened to have a Capitol Records "Meet The Beatles" cover, with no disc,  so that's where it's been living for a while. I did check the net to see what the Haishan cover looked like and was able to find it and print a photo, so I have that, too, and it will be included with the price. It's not 12 inch, but you could find one that is, or do it yourself.

It evens plays reasonably well, so there's that. Goes to show you how good vinyl was back in the day. Don't get me wrong, this disc is in what I would call fair shape, but still plays. I think I heard a total of three skips on the whole disc. If you clean it, they may even go away. But this is sold AS IS.  The vinyl does show wear. But the labels are in excellent shape. As I said, a good cleaning may spruce this up.

You just NEVER KNOW what you're going to find in the thrifts. I mean, I was trying to imagine how this disc ended up in Mendocino, CA and where it had traveled from. And how in heck did I just chance to check out what I thought was that PPM album on a passing whim? All sorts of thoughts on that. Certainly makes you wonder.

I'm at the stage of life where I'm putting some of my finds on eBay so I'm going to list this in all its patchwork glory (red vinyl Haishan disc, Capitol Cover, color copy of the original cover) and see what happens.

Oh, just for the record (no pun intended),

the Capitol Records "Meet The Beatles" cover that this red vinyl is mated with, is showing age, original owners name on it. But still in good shape, and is a MONO brown lettering ORIGINAL ISSUE CAP 2047 per Spizer.
