R.I.P. CHITA - RARE Collection of Hard To Find Chita Rivera LP's: Bajour (Autographed!) / Bye Bye Birdie (London Cast Issue) / Bring Back Birdie / And Now I Sing (see photos for complete playlists) :
1) BAJOUR (1964) (Columbia - KOS-2700 -Stereo) (Gatefold Cover) (AUTOGRAPHED BY CHITA RIVERA) Book by Ernest Kinoy. Music and lyrics by Walter Marks. Based on Joseph Mitchell short stories, The Gypsy Women & The King of the Gypsies published in The New Yorker. Musical numbers staged by Peter Gennaro. Musical direction by Lehman Engel. Orchestrations by Mort Lindsey. Directed by Lawrence Kasha. Played a total of 232 performances on Broadway in 1964 & 1965. CAST: Chita Rivera, Nancy Dussault, Herschel Bernardi, Robert Burr, Mae Questel, Gus Trikonis, Herbert Edelman, Antonia Rey, Lucie Lancaster. CONDITION: Vinyl = excellent. Cover = Very Good + (Dent on lower left cover & tear in inside fold of gatefold cover.)
2) BYE BYE BIRDIE (1965) (Mercury/Wing - MGW-1300) Original London Cast album of musical production with book by Michael Stewart. Music by Charles Strouse. Lyrics by Lee Adams. Book directed by Michael Stewart. Staged and choreographed by Tony Mordente. Based on the original production by Gower Champion. CAST: Chita Rivera, Peter Marshall, Angela Baddeley, Sylvia Tysick, Robert Nichols, Mary Laura Wood, Clive Endersby, Kenneth Nash, Marty Wilde. CONDITION: Vinyl = Excellent. Cover = Very good + (promo hole punch at upper left hand front cover).
3) BRING BACK BIRDIE (1981) (Original Cast Records - OC-8132) This LP is a rare find because the show only had 4 performances before it closed on Broadway in March of 1981. It was a sequel to the 1960 musical Bye Bye Birdie, which was written by the same team. Music by Charles Strouse. Lyrics by Lee Adams. Book by Michael Stewart. Choreography by Frank O'Dowd. Musical Direction by Mark Hummel. Orchestrations by Ralph Burns. Directed by Joee Layton. Although the musical was a flop Chita Rivera was nominated for a Tony award for Best Actress in a Musical and a Drama Desk Award as outstanding Actress in a Musical. CAST: Chita Rivera, Donald O'Connor, Maria Karnilova, Marcel Forestieri, Robin Morse, Even Seplow, Jeb Brown, Frank DeSal, Maurice Hines. CONDITION: Vinyl & Cover = Excellent.
4) AND NOW I SING ! (1961) (Seeco -SCLP - 9258) SUPER RARE debut solo singing LP recorded in 1961 that celebrates Chita's vocal talents. She sings 11 popular American classics accompanied by Joe Cain and his Orchestra. CONDITION: Vinyl = Excellent -. Cover = Very Good - (Upper and side seams broken But covers are very clean).

LP's come boxed carefully in corrugated boxes made specifically for LP's, with filler pads and bubble wrap on both sides to protect the cover. LP's are housed in clear plastic LP sleeves. The LP is removed from the cover for shipping to prevent seam splitting unless when purchasing a sealed LP or when specified otherwise. Tracking numbers will be provided on all purchases.
