Clean, Glossy Vinyl has only a very few tiny surface scuffs on Side 1, viewed under hard bright light; (EX) would be EX+ but for a sticker on the label with "TX PSYCH BUBBLE PUPPY" on that side. Side 2 is VG+ with a few light, non-feelable surface scratches that are inaudible.

COVER is VG+
Clean, solid, thick Gatefold Cover with light edge, corner, shelf wear. Some mild, short edge creases off of spine. No other creases; no writing or soil. Inside gatefold is bright and clean, showing some light age discoloration. Seams and spine intact with no splits. Spine titles completely legible.

DEMIAN was a Texas psychedelic rock band (formerly known as Bubble Puppy), formed in 1966 in San Antonio, Texas by Rod Prince and Roy Cox, looking to form a “top gun rock band” based on the concept of dual lead guitars. Bubble Puppy’s live debut was as the opening act for The Who in San Antonio.

They scored a Top-20 U.S. hit in 1969 with their single, "Hot Smoke & Sassafrass". The title was a misheard line lifted from an episode of "The Beverly Hillbillies". The single peaked at number 14 on the Billboard 100. 

The Line-up for Bubble Puppy (as heard on their 1969 album “a Gathering of Promises”) was Rod Prince and Todd Potter on lead guitars, Roy Cox on bass guitar and David "Fuzzy" Fore on drums. In 1967, Bubble Puppy had moved to Austin, Texas and signed a recording contract with Houston-based International Artists Records, home to the 13th Floor Elevators, The Golden Dawn and the Red Krayola. The name "Bubble Puppy" was taken from "Centrifugal Bumble-Puppy", a fictitious children's game in Aldous Huxley's book Brave New World. 

In 1969, Bubble Puppy released their only full-length album, A Gathering of Promises. However, despite Bubble Puppy's early success with the "Hot Smoke & Sassafrass" single, they experienced numerous conflicts with International Artists, and parted ways with the label in 1970.

Signing Nick St. Nicholas of Steppenwolf as their manager, Bubble Puppy moved to Los Angeles, with the same complete “Gathering of Promises” Line-up; changed their name to DEMIAN, named after a Herman Hesse novel (just like Steppenwolf had done upon changing their name from The Sparrow in 1967). This was to avoid contractual difficulties with their previous record company, I.A., but also because the former name appeared to link them with Bubblegum music.

The group signed to ABC-Dunhill Records and released this one self-titled album in 1971.
