Description
Deemed to be in the top ten the most collectable early Elvis Presley EP recording from 1957 "There's Good Rockin Tonight"....this is the sought after copy that has the circular centre piece. The catalogue number is 7 EG 8256 and the EP is issued on the HMV recording label. Mono. Side A Matrix Stamper is: 7T AV 415 1-N Side B Matrix Stamper is: 7T AV 416 1-N Three tracks in all: Side A: Blue Moon Of Kentucky Good Rockin Tonight
Side B: Milk Cow Blues Just Because.
Obviously these are very early recordings and to that end you can appreciate the basic sound quality and rawness in terms of the prevailing recording equipment of the day - what you hear is what you get without any modern enhancement what so ever.
Appraisal of the EP's condition: For it's age - over 60 years old the EP's sleeve presents in good clean condition. There are one or two creases around the edges and upper left side of the front cover but thankfully due to the sleeve being flip-back laminated it still presents in good order - there are certainly no rips tears or any writing.
The actual disc still presents with a good glossy sheene, on both sides there are one or two lightly based surface marks and scratches - examined under bright lighting conditions none of the marks are on any specific concern to me, more importantly, I have played the disc several times and on my equipment there is no skipping,sticking or jumping on either side, as I have mentioned this is a mono recording on a disc that is in excess of 60 years old so one can hear the occasional pip and crack amidst quitter sections of music which id typical of ageing vinyl but in my view the listening experience is not unduly spoilt - this can of course vary from one turntable to another.
As previously mentioned, this is the copy with a circular centre and all four centre pegs remain present in in tact.Again, both labels are in good order. Please see photo's.
