"And then we wrote... A Review of Revues by Michael Flanders & Donald Swann". Mono LP released in 1975 by EMI, No. EMCM 3088. Released by arrangement with BBC Records. Made in Great Britain. Colour picture sleeve by Garrod & Lofthouse with a portrait of each artist on green background. Vinyl and sleeve EX.
This performance was first broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on Christmas Eve, 1974. Michael Flanders & Donald Swann talk about their musical history, and, together with Julian Orchard, Pat Lancaster, Charlotte Mitchell and Anne Rogers, perform songs from their various early shows.
The shows: "Oranges and Lemons", first produced in November 1948 at the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith and transferred to the Globe Theatre in January 1949. - "Penny Plain", first produced at the St. Martin’s Theatre in June 1951. - "Airs on a Shoestring", first produced in April 1953 at the Royal Court Theatre. - "Fresh Airs", first produced in February 1956 at the Comedy Theatre.
