Description
Do the Uhuru b/w Uhuru (or maybe the title is Pandora Products, it's hard to tell), no artist given, no label name. This was a promotional 45 for a company that produced cosmetics for black women. The B-side is basically a spoken-word sales pitch with some background music. But Do the Uhuru is a stunning slow-groove funk instro, played by a band that knows what it's up to, and deserved to have their efforts credited on the label. Although this record says "Produced by Bill Walker and Associates, Nashville, Tennessee," I suspect this is actually out of Detroit--though I can't guarantee it, and have been able to learn nothing about Pandora cosmetics. In any case, a very rare and (to my ears anyway) great track.
NOTE: Audio clips should be up by the morning of 12/14. If they are not, or if they won't play for you, feel free to e-mail me and I'll send you the sample.
I am currently selling a couple dozen funk 45s, some extraordinarily rare, so check my other auctions.
