Description
Up for auction is Blue Note 4160 from 1963: Andrew Hill's "Smokestack," featuring Hill on keys, Richard Davis on bass, Eddie Kahn on bass, and Roy Haynes on drums. This cover is still in shrink-wrap, though the record has been opened. This is the original mono version of the album, NY USA on label, "VAN GELDER" stamped in dead wax, and the Plastylite "ear" in the dead wax. This comes from an ex-radio DJ's collection.
Cover: NM-, still in shrinkwrap, some very slight wear to the bottom, right corner.
Record: NM-, side 1 is pristine and potentially never played; side 2 has some very, very light scuffing from coming out of the sleeve; comes with original Blue Note inner sleeve. Comes with original Blue Note inner sleeve.
I am a university professor of music here in the US who inherited this and other records (Blue Note, Norgran, Impulse!, Columbia, Prestige, Fantasy, Riverside, etc.) from a collector and former radio DJ a few years back. I am looking to sell off some of these records to collectors/audiophiles who can get more enjoyment out of them than I can.
