In the 1960s, many record companies would issue free copies of their releases to radio stations to encourage the stations to play the records for listeners and potential buyers. 

Often, the outer sleeve of these records and the record label itself would be specially marked as "Demonstrator," "DJ Copy," "or "Promo" (meaning promotional). These records were the first ones to be pressed by the record companies and were therefore, in the opinion of many audio- and phonophiles, better sounding, since they were "closer" to the source, when the vinyl stampers were "fresh."

This Atlantic release may is monaural, but the magic of the "Queen of Soul" is hard to miss as she performs live before a French audience. "Chain of Fools" and "Respect" (written by Otis Redding) are especially powerful. 

Visual grade: NM/NM. Very clean pressing. May not have been played more than once. 

Play grade: NM/NM. Very quiet pressing. 

Sleeve grade: Good plus (G+), since it has been taped to reinforce a split bottom seam. 

Shipping: By USPS Media Mail.

A Note on Shipping:

• Shipping cost is based on your package's weight. The first single record (plus container) weighs 1 pound, 4 ounces. Each additional record weighs 10 ounces. Obviously, box-sets weigh more.

• Normal domestic shipping is by Media Mail.

• Normal International shipping is by First-Class Mail International.

Record Play-Grades

SS Still sealed; unopened and un-played; condition unknown.

NM+ Near Mint Plus. Extraordinarily clean, quiet, and virtually unmarked, except perhaps for a very light spindle track on the label; may not have been played.

NM Near Mint. Clean and quiet, regardless of scuffs, hairline scratches or apparent defects.

NM- Near Mint Minus. Less quiet than NM, with a bit more background noise , regardless of its source.

VG++ Very good plus plus. Noisier than NM-; may say why.

VG+ Very good plus. Noisier than VG++; will say why.

Sleeve Grades

Exc Excellent. Virtually perfect; may be shrink-wrapped or not; looks almost new.

Exc- Excellent minus. No major defects; clean, sound, and mark-free; perhaps a slightly bent corner or two.

VG+ Very Good Plus. May have a couple small defects, such as a little writing or a little staining or yellowing, but it's quite presentable.

VG  Very Good. Defects are more noticeable; may have needed seam repair with paper reinforcement that is glued in place. 

G  Good. Sleeve has some obvious challenges but is still somewhat presentable. It may some staining and be taped and have other signs of repair, but it still functions well to protect the record inside. 

F  Fair. Need I say more?
