Description
This is the very rare MFSL UHQR Test Pressing of Strauss: “Also Sprach Zarathrustra†Op.30 performed by The Chicago Symphony Orchestra with Fritz Reiner conducting, MFSL UHQR 1-522.
This is in absolutely Mint, Perfect condition! The vinyl is flawless! I have never played this to grade or other wise, myself. I do believe, though, that this has been played because there is one spindle mark on the white label.
This comes in a plain white album cover with a label on it that says “Sample Record- Not For Saleâ€. Also, ‘MFSL 1-522 UHQR’ stamped in Record No. box (..see photo). The record itself has a white label with “MFSL, Inc†in large block letters and “TEST PRESSING’ printed on it.
There’s a small discolored spot on the outside bottom, backside of the plain white album cover.
Test pressings are the first records pressed from a new mold. The mold is made from the ‘metal mother’. The ‘metal mother’ is made from the lacquer cut on the lathe at Mobile Fidelity’s lab.
There are only 5 of these rare items in the world, as mofi never released this selection to the public. Test pressings are the rarest of the rare as far as their availability goes! MFSL did release a regular LP pressing of this, 1-522, but never a UHQR (Ultra High Quality Record) version. This test pressing would have the finest sound of any copy available for this title!

Content wise, this is really an extremely fine Classical performance. A great recording & tremendous remastering job done by Mobile Fidelity here!
This record has been stored upright in a protective resealable mylar sleeve. This Lp was remastered with the Original master tapes of the recording session. It's pressed on to a special 200gram virgin high definition vinyl. The UHQR LPs were the best, technically near perfect pressings that Mobile Fidelity did!
