Description
This is the rare original deep-groove pressing of Milt Hinton “East Coast Jazz” on the red and silver labels of Bethlehem BCP 10 and 1020 (this will be explained later). The playing surface is in near-new condition, with a nice luster; perhaps played once. The laminated cover is bright and clean throughout, with just ¼” rubbing on the bottom seam, at the opening. The record was original intended to appear in the 10” series, hence the four-digit catalogue number. After it was discovered that the playing time far exceeded 10” limits, it was reassigned to the 12” series, but only after the original labels and jackets had been printed. Bethlehem corrected the error with a silver sticker at the top right corner of the front, obscuring the “1020” catalogue number beneath it. The catalogue numbers on the back slick show BCP-10, with the original “20” obscured by a black square. Personnel include Tony Scott (A.J. Sciacca), Dick Katz, and Osie Johnson.
