Description
Pinky Winters, PINKY, Vantage Records LP #VLP-3, c. 1954. Very good copy of this ultra-rare jazz vocal 10-inch. This superb jazz singer is virtually unknown except by jazz cognoscenti--fans and critics alike--around the world, by whom she is fanatically revered, thanks to the scarcity of her oeuvre (a mere 6 releases in 45 years), but mostly thanks to her warm vocal style and thoughtful interpretations. On this, her very first recording, Pinky is accompanied by a trio led by Bud Lavin on piano, with Stan Levy on drums) & Jim Wolf on bass. Songs: Little Girl Blue, Darn That Dream, But Not for Me, These Foolish Things, This Can't Be Love, Cool Sazerac, How About You, and Yip Harburg & Sammy Fain's rarely heard The World is Your Balloon (from the famous '51 flop FLAHOOLEY, starring Barbara Cook--and Yma Sumac!). LP is in very good condition--clean with faint scuffs, plus a couple of small, fairly light scratches on two tracks. Cover has some ringwear (see photo) and album jacket has splits at the top and bottom which can be taped internally. Due to the extreme scarcity of this item, it carries a reasonable reserve. …… We take Paypal as well as the 4 major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover).
