Description
Well, Here we have one of the rarest of rare private pressings ever, the genius that is Caedmon. Only 100 of these were ever pressed and what makes this so special is that it is the complete set with the 45 single included.
Caedmon were a late 70's folk band that sound like no other. Its experimental and just superb, in fact the ONLY reason that I am selling this is that I need the funds, otherwise I would hold onto this beauty forever. I had to buy the secret garden repress which sounds terrible compared with this (it really does), and it also has a different track listing order which is frustrating. (Why?!)
Anyway, the last time this record came up for auction was in 2011, so people are obviously hanging onto them.
COVER:
I would class this as a Mint Minus, As you can see from the photo, there is a small indentation in the top corner, otherwise it would grade Mint. I never store the lp in its sleeve and have always had it in a protective sleeve. So it has no feathering, creases or other wear and tear.
VINYL
I am happy to grade this as MINT. It really does sound superb. No crackle, just piano black intro. It puts my secret garden repress of it to shame. The audio is clear and it really is a joy to listen to, it also has a lovely shine to it. I probably play it twice a year and I have owned it for the last 5 years. It has always been kept in an Anti Static Sleeve and double-sleeved for protection. You will be happy with this.
LABELS
Perfect, No spindle marks, labels are crisp. Just a great example
45 CONDITION
I've never played this in all honestly and i've just moved house so the turntable isn't set up. It actually looks un-played. It has a lovely sheen to it and the labels are perfect, no spindles etc.
INSERT
This is lovely, no creases or tears. Only one small (what looks like) brown streak. I have shown this in the photo's. On closer inspection I this this could be removed as its sitting on top of the insert not in it. Either way, its very small and doesn't detract, but in a record like this I thought it best to list everything.
I am gutted to see this go, but I think it needs to go to a good home. I have set (what I think) is a reasonable reserve based on previous sales and rarity. I am not willing to disclose this, and I think those that are bidding on this know what they are bidding on and its rarity.
