"Can’t Stand Still” must have been written after Colin Chew came up with an amazing drum beat since it has to be one of the most complicated drum beats ever. I have no idea of how many years he had to practice before he learned it, and pay attention to the speed as well!
"No Reason For Your Call" owes quite a lot to the Who. It’s pretty catchy though the singer mainly talks through the verses. And the way the drum kicks back into the song after the chorus is killer! The bass is slightly out of tune in a good way.
Headache were actually The Electrodes up until the release of their only single record. They allegedly formed some years earlier and like a lot of other bands of the time claimed they were playing new wave style music long before it became known as new wave!
They performed regularly on Tuesday nights at the Greyhound pub in Chadwell heath for a few months mid 1977. They were supported by local bands the Losers and Wasted and on one or two occasions the Sockets who went on to be the Purple Hearts. Headache also played the usual punk palaces like the ‘Roxy’ and ‘Vortex’ in London's’ Soho district all through ’77. They also played with bands such as Raped, Bethnal, Merger, Mean Streets and Crocodile.
After they released this record, they went on to be associated with Crass, changing their name to Lack Of Knowledge and finally split up at the beginning of 1978. This is the original 7 inch pressing imported from England. It has a DIY style to the picture sleeve, which was printed on semi-buff paper. It has "Delga Press Ltd." printed on the rear bottom flipback. A rare UK Punk single!
