Description

Wagner's Der Ring Des Nibelungen - 22 LP Decca special presentation Box Set.  
1970 UK TWENTY TWO stereo LP boxed set of the complete edition of Richard Wagner's four part opera, 'Der Ring des Nibelungen', also known as 'The Ring Cycle' featuring the four operas 'Das Rheingold','Die Walkure', 'Siegfried' and 'Gotterdammerung'. 

There is also a unique three record introduction to 'The Ring' set narrated by Deryck Cooke featuring excerpts from the four operas. 

Each opera is in its own separate wooden ended partition with full size libretto booklets containing synopsis & full transcription for the operas. Many photographs and drawings together with musical scores. 

The whole set is enclosed in a very weighty wooden box with gilded front panel. 
The records have not been individually tested, but appear to be in good condition, as are the sleeves and pamphlets The box and each partition show signs of usual wear, but not excessive, the former having a scrape on the back (shown in the photos) that appears to have been previously disguised by colouring it black.
Since listing this item I have inspected each disc individually. I note that one disc has a light scratch that may cause an audible click (I do not have the facility to play the record myself). I have added a couple of pictures of this scratch, although it does not show up very well being not deep. The disc affected is Ring 15; side 4 in the Gotterdammerung set (act 1 part 3).
I have also noted that the first record sleeve in each of the main sets has been notated with playing times. (Also, one sleeve has some scuffing to the clear central label window, but the disc is not marked; I assume this scuffing occurred at a time when the disc was not inside).
