I am pleased to offer for auction this rare and hard to find record album from DAVID PORTER with his VICTIM OF THE JOKE - AN OPERA 0n Enterprise ENS 1019 1973. David Porter only released four albums in his career and this is his third -which is a concept album. Along with his own compositions he does an upbeat cover of The Beatles "Help" - which you just have to hear for yourself. However he is best known for being one of the best song writers in the biz. He is best known for writing credits for Sam & Dave's "Soul Man" - who can top that? He also wrote for Mariah Carey "Dream Lover" Will Smith "Get Jiggy Wit It" and countless artists like Aretha - Biggie Smalls - James Brown - Otis Redding - ZZ Top - Nugent - Patsy Cline - Eurythmics and countless more...truly one of the greats. This record also shows hit fantastic talent for writing and singing the best soul R&B ever to drop on vinyl. The record is VG+++ looks very good with no visible marks or scratches. I should grade higher but it is visually graded. The cover is VG++ - it has the cut out flap on the front that is normally torn or lost from time and use. Most I have seen are just gone. Hard to believe it is still in place and in good shape. The cover has a bit of ring wear and minor scuffs but not bad at all. It has a corner punch.
