Description
This is the first and arguably the most influential Rolling Stones LP as it almost single handedly introduced Britain's record buying public to American Rhythm and Blues music. Released in the UK on the 16th April 1964, it topped the Briitish Album charts for 12 weeks. This copy was bought in Leeds, England, later that month. It is very rare pressing of this particular LP and highly collectable.
Tracks include:
Side 1 (XARL-6271-2A) -1, Route 66 (Troup); 2, I just wanna make love to you (Dixon); 3, Honest I do (Hurran, Calvert); 4, Mona (McDaniels); 5, Now I've got a witness (like uncle Gene and uncle Phil) Phelge); 6, Little by Little (Phelge, Spector).
Side 2 (XARL-6272-7A) - 1, I'm a king bee (moore); 2, Carole (Berry) 3, Tell me (You're Coming back) (Jagger, Richard); 4. Can I get a witness (E. & B. Holland, Bozier); 5, You can make it you try (Jarrett); 6, Walking the Dog (Thomas).
Note that the track listing reproduced above appears on the album's cardboard cover and includes typing errors for side 2 ('Bozier' rather than Dozier on track 4, and the absence of 'if' in the title of track 5). Also on the disc's red label the title for track 5 is different from that on the cover: 'Now I've got a witness (like uncle Phil and uncle Gene)' and includes the name 'Bozier' instead of 'Dozier' on Side, 2 , track 4.
The text on the rear of the album cover has been protected by the addition of a clear laminate sheet and the inner polythene and paper sleeve has 2 small tears and contains some discolouration, see photographs.
The disc has not been professionally cleaned as we don't know how to do it properly so contains some surface noise.
And although it plays without sticking there is a scratch across tracks 1, 2 and 3 on side 2 which causes a click but doesn't detract from the great sound (see photo).
I could go on but I'm sure if there are collecters out there they wil already be aware of this album's rarity.
