Hello, You are bidding on an original 1970 vinyl copy of Pre-Flight by Room on the UK label Deram. If you are considering bidding on this record than you probably know that it is extremely rare with few copies ever coming up for sale. Room apparantly recorded this one-off record after winning a Deram contract by finishing second in a Melody Maker contest. The record is classic progressive and somewhat psychedelic rock which is highly sought after by today's collectors. Record collector magazine says, "Self-indulgence is largely avoided in favour of taut jamming." "It also showcases some of the most exciting musicianship in the progressive field." Unfortunately for the prog scene, the band was not satisfied and there was no follow up. Fortunately for you, we found this amazing copy for you to bid on. The record itself is as nice as you could hope for. Mint? NM? NM-? I can see no evidence of play under bright light. I do not think there is even any "sleeve scuffing". The spindle hole is sharp, and the label is fresh, it is arguably perfect. The sleeve is in solid shape, but is definately not NM maybe VG+ or excellent/excellent-? The album still had shrink wrap on it which caused the spine corners to pucker in. There is also modest ring wear, but the white of the sleeve is a pretty solid white with only light if any discoloration. The print image on the front is clear and crisp, and the rear image looks brand new. The top edge is close to perfect and the bottom edge is very solid, but shows wear from sitting on a shelf. The spine corners show some minor wear as does the spine. "Pre-Flight" is clear and crisp, The "R" in "Room" is somewhat obscured. If this were a typical album, I would not go to such lengths, but I know that this is a rare item and I want it to be fully described. You can find a copy with out description or photo for sale on line for $1,400. A recent copy in great shape sold on e-bay for $1,050. I've used these prices to set a high but reasonable reserve. I need the money, and it won't do me any good on my shelf. Hi guys,
I talked to the store manager and it turns out that the album was never opened until it came in to our store. The folks at the store did play it once, but apparantly you are bidding on a copy of the record that has been played one time only and has been taken in and out of its sleeve four or five times! There is also a stamped index number very small in the run off ZAL-10065.P-1W.
