Description

Ras Laura – ‘Rastaman Come Home’ / ‘Time Drawing Nigh’ – Record City blank (JA)

Insanely scarce nyahbinghi chant by the elusive Ras Laura; nearly impossible to find, not least because the bulk of this artist’s work was released as blanks with no title information. This record came out in 1969; the flip is an astonishing, jazzy version of the Beatles’ ‘Norwegian Wood’ with a Rasta message and some glorious horns. Matrix numbers are DYNA Ras Laura 743-1 (‘Rastaman’) and DYNA Ras Laura 1577-1 (‘Time’). The latter side also has ‘Sons of Negus’ engraved in the run-out grooves, which most likely indicates their presence.

Condition: G+ or thereabouts, it’s not in the best condition (please listen to the clips; I’ve included the full length of both sides). The good news is there is no skipping or any serious distortion; you just have to think past the clicks… The dark red, blank labels show wear; the ‘Rastaman’ side is torn and has “Lighten + Thunder” written on it (please see scans). I wouldn’t normally list a record in this condition, but this is an utterly scarce disc and one that deserves a good home. Starting it low, a chance to pick up a scarce piece at a good price!

Please reply within three days after auction close. Payment via Paypal expected within seven days. Will not be held responsible for uninsured shipping.

Shipping 1-2 singles is US $6.50 within Europe, US $8.00 to the rest of the world. Registered and insured shipping is an additional US $13.00. Please contact me for further combined shipping rates.

Please note that like many other sellers of reggae on eBay, I’ve been the victim of so called ‘fake bidders’, bad minded people who have no intention of purchasing the items they bid on and whose only intention is to ruin the auction. If your feedback is zero, please get in touch with me before bidding, or I will have to remove your bid and offer the record to second highest bidder. Obviously, the second highest bid will have been raised, as it were, artificially by the ‘fake bidder’. I will try to lower the selling price to one increment above the third highest bid by way of offering a discount or free shipping (or both). Here’s hoping this auction will be free from any such problems!

Happy to answer any questions. Please see my other reggae auctions with many rare items this week.

Thanks for looking and good luck!
