Over the next several months we have the pleasure of listing a spectacular vinyl collection of over 6000 LP's. This collection consisting of mostly Jazz but also Blues, Folk ,Rock, Soundtracks and Classical was kept in amazing condition. Most of the records were played once, transferred to tape for listening and then stored away in cliplock sealed bags in specially made cupboards. The overall condition of this collection is sublime to say the least and whatever items I list as Near Mint you can be assured that it was probaly only ever played once!! Over the last few weeks you may have noticed some of the lovely jazz & rock titles I have listed, these are just the tip of the iceberg here. I hope you enjoy seeing these listings as much as I have in offering them.
Seminal recording by the two men most responsible for opening the West to Indian music. Master of the sitar, Ravi Shankar (age 91) is, of course, famous for his legendary influence on the Beatles, but this recording was made for the American jazz label Prestige prior to their meeting. Perhaps lesser intertwined with the pop music world, Ali Akbar-Khan is nonetheless one of Indias greatest musicians, and the worlds best sarod player. Shankar and Khan play together on both ragas, backed by a tabla player and a tamboura player. The tamboura player is Nodu C. Mullick on side A, a highly respected instrument maker who made Shankars sitar).
Tracks: Raga palas kafi/ Raga bilashkani todi.
There are a few light spindle marks on labels. Record is clean with no signs of scratches or scuff marks and is in Near Mint condition. Cover has a few light age spots on back and a few tiny surface tears around edges and is in Excellent condition.
