Description

An original very 1st press of LISTEN on the UK HMV label. Matrix 1/1 - very 1st cut. And if that weren't good enough provenance for you what about a 1G/1G stamper? This copy comes from the very 1st stamper utilised on this title. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original STEREO cover with flip-backs. Also included is the original EMI advertising inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In superb condition - I don't think I've seen better looking labels or surfaces. Under close inspection I'm struggling to make out a single mark. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback on Side 1 and just a shade lower on Side 2 NEAR EXCELLENT. With just a couple of deviations. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. As you will no doubt be aware Charles audio is low-key and delicate for large parts. His vocal range is astonishing. If you want amazing sound - you're going to need to be very exacting in the copy you look for. What I can assure you is that this copy has the best possible provenance you could hope to secure. And the preservation levels would be extremely difficult to match - period. ...Superb dynamic range. Super low-level detail. It can deliver a Charles performance with integrity and precision. The only noticeable background I could detect was in 'Here we go again'. Nothing intrusive - it just won't play perfectly clean. But you will, perhaps, notice a few crackles intermittently on side 2. I'd say side 2 has seen just that bit more use than side 1. There was a couple of ticks in that very 1st track on side 1 [no big deal]. Highly recommended.
Cover (Ex-) Lovely deep blacks on the front with nothing to disturb the aesthetic - no creases or bends. The rear has avoided most of the usual ageing process. There is just a touch of discolouration in one or two spots. All flip-backs are secure and intact. Very little edge wear and the openings are still sharp. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Discolouration in places. No splits though.
