Red Bird Goldies ORIG UK LP ’65 RB20102 Dixie Cups Shangri-Las Girl groups

Red Bird goodies

Original UK LP released in 1965 on Red Bird Records. Cat: RB20102.

The first greatest hit album from Red Bird Records features hits by the Dixie Cups, the Shangri-las, the Ad Libs, the Jelly Beans, the Trade Winds, and Alvin Robinson. "Remember (Walking In The Sand)" by the Shangri-las is three minutes of Brill Building brilliance, a sweet, innocence teenage remembrance. The Jelly Beans "I Wanna Love Him So Bad" with the flopping bass, and the Ad Libs kicking "The Boy From New York City," illustrate a homogenized side of 60's music. Listening to these brings back memories of My Three Sons, Donna Reed, American Bandstand, junior high school canteens, 16 Magazine, and hula hoops.

Tracks: Dixie Cups - Chapel of love/ Shangri-Las - Remember (walking in the sand)/ Trade Windsd - New York’s a lonely town/ Jelly Beans - I wanna love him so bad/ Butterflys - Good night baby/ Shangri-Las - Give him a great big kiss/ Shangri-Las - Leader of the pack/ Ad Libs - The boy from New York city/ Alvin Robinson - Something you got/ Butterflys - I wonder/ Jelly Beans - Baby be mine/ Dixie Cups - People say.

Record has some light scuff marks that cause a few light crackles and is in Excellent condition. Gloss cover with back flaps has light ring wear and marks and is in VG+ condition.
