Description
Prestige 7258, “When There Are Grey Skies” with Red Garland, Wendell Marshall, and Charlie Persip, from 1962. Original DG vinyl plays at VG+ or better. There is some faint static that may be from the pressing; the vinyl itself shines, and there are no visible marks aside from light sleeve scuffing. Jacket is close to NM with practically no visible seamwear, corner wear or ringwear; jacket back is extremely clean with no writing; there is slight age-coloring along the spine. Tracks include “Sonny Boy”, “My Honey’s Loving Arms”, “St. James Infirmary”, “Baby Won’t You Please Come Home”, and “Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen”. This is one of Red’s best, most introspective sessions. “Nobody Knows” is a long non-standard treatment that radiates warmth and depth. Shipping is $4.00 media mail, $8.00 priority mail within the continental U.S.; $14.00 regular airmail to the U.K., Europe, Japan, Korea, and Australia; elsewhere inquire. Additional LPs in a single package are $1.00 per LP domestic, $2.00 elsewhere. For overseas shipments, I strongly recommend registered mail for $11.75 extra. (Two years ago, a package to the Netherlands was lost in shipment, resulting in disappointment on both sides.) Many old records are now practically antiques and should be treated that way. This LP will be packaged with the record inside an inner sleeve but outside the jacket; both are placed inside a sealed outer sleeve and shipped inside a special oversized handcrafted mailer with padding on all sides. It is designed thick enough not to be caught in a postal conveyor belt and strong enough to withstand a drop from a second-story window. More than two LPs may be mailed together in a heavy Bags Unlimited pizza-style box. Your LP should arrive in the same condition as on the day it was shipped. All used LPs are play-graded on a VPI turntable with Audioquest tonearm and Grado cartridge.
