Description
Red Raven collectors: Here's your chance to own a COMPLETE ORIGINAL Red Raven set with nearly mint carousel mirror, along with the original 2 records, box, and the BOX INSERT which allows the whole item to be DISPLAYED like a record player! This would make a great addition to any vintage toy collection! Records
This set was a gift to my brother and I from our father returning from a European trip in the early 60s. Along with this set, he brought 2 additional records in French for this set (PLEASE NOTE: the French records are NOT included here . . . they will be listed separately).
So here's what you get with the set:
1) Red Raven caousel mirror in NEARLY MINT condition. Copyright 1956 on bottom. The red-painted wood ball at the top is as CLOSE TO PERFECT as I've ever seen. The mirrors show minimal fogging and scratches. The overall paint is crisp and bright and shiny. I see only one tiny fleck of missing paint on the top near the red ball (see photos). The bottom of the carousel is GLORIOUS, with crisp, clean Red Raven picture and print, showing only minor scuff wear of the rim of yellow paint where the carousel rubbed on the underlying records.
2) The 2 original plastic 78rpm phonograph records with Magic Mirror labels on each side. The pictures, of course, appear like an animated cartoon on reflecting in the carousel mirrors while the records are spinning. The labels are in fine condition. PLEASE NOTE: as shown in the photo, 2 of the labels have become unglued. They are perfect, but I leave it to the next buyer to glue them back on to his/her satisfaction. All 4 sides of the records play well on my 78rpm phonograph with slight hiss and pops, but PLEASE NOTE: I am NOT guaranteeing playability of the records (and these can be easily replaced). The 4 sides of the 2 records contain the following 4 songs: M1: Tootles the Tug, M2 The Little Red Engine, M3: Old MacDonald's Farm, and (my personal favoite) M4: Little White Duck. All four labels bear Copyright 1956
3) The original box has a great 50s/60s photo on the cover, and wonderful graphics and printing on all sides and bottom. There are numerous splits of the seams. A few seams are held together with tape, but the tape is relatively easy to remove (I removed some myself). I leave it to the buyer to consider reparing the seams from the inside w/ archival tape. The only missing cardboard I can see is part of the lower handle on front of box . . . hardly noticeable. This BOX DISPLAYS BEAUTIFULLY as is . . . and could be even more spectacular with minor repairs of seams. There is a small hole in the center of the cover picture that allows the carousel to site upright in the box with the red ball protruding. I honestly don't remember if it came that way or if dad made the hole. (The only other box like this I saw on ebay had the same hole . . . and did NOT have the insert!). The box has original stickers that say both Patented Canada 1961 and Made in USA.
4) The ORIGINAL BOX INSERT! HOW OFTEN DOES THIS SHOW UP?! This has great graphics and instructions printed on the sides. When placed in the box, this insert is what makes this such a great display piece.
I plan to ship USPS Priority Mail 2-3 days with required tracking and insurance paid by buyer, at flat rate of $20 in the continental U.S.
I will accept bids from U.S., Canada, Europe and Japan. PLEASE NOTE: The flat rate shipping noted below is for U.S. only. Bidders from outside of the U.S. are responsible for ALL shipping costs equivalent to USPS Priority Mail with REQUIRED insurance and tracking capability. If you have any questions, please contact me BEFORE bidding. The item along weighs a bit less than 1 pound, but packaging will obviously increase the weight.
This item is being sold AS IS. Returns are accepted only if the item clearly is not as shown in photos . . . so please ask any questions prior to bidding.
Thanks for your attention, and happy bidding!

Correction: 3 of the labels are unglued. All 3 are in fine shape and are included in the purchase . . . I leave it to the purchaser to re-glue or otherwise attach the labels. Please contact me if you have any questions.
