Description
Reese Markewich Quintet New Designs In Jazz Modernage MA 134 mono deep groove
A very rare and surprisingly good 1950s hard bop record on an apparent one-off label.
Reese Markewich (p), Nick Brignola (as, bar s), Jesse Avery (ts), Steve Fillo (b), Ronnie Zito (d) Recorded 1957
Deep groove label both sides. "40 East 40th St., N.Y. 16, N.Y." address on back cover.
The record looks VG- and plays VG to VG+, mostly VG+. Both sides have many scuffs, some light and some heavier. There's also quite a few scratches on both sides which can be heard during quiet passages. None are of the loud, deep, thumping type. Very far from a clean copy but the record plays enjoyably and is not destroyed, wrecked or a "wall hanger". Most of the music is loud and uptempo and plays well above the surface noise. No distortion.
The cover is VG.
The front cover has moderate wear and the laminate is peeling along the pocket. There's a small piece of the slick missing at the bottom of the pocket. The back cover has moderate to heavy wear with heavy fading. There's some writing on back which is apparently a dedication from Reese Markewich. Top and bottom seams are split and untaped app 1/2 inch at the pocket. Spine is split and untaped app 2 inches in the middle. Spots of denting and wear at the corners.
