On offer today is one of the rarest albums around - THIS IS THE ORIGINAL ALBUM, NOT THE RE-RELEASED VERSION SOON TO BE AVAILABLE - only 5,000 every pressed and now almost 35 years old! This copy is lacking the colour YELLOW on the album label so looks much more white than many other copies. This is the label that is on the centre of the vinyl - see photo. This will make it even rarer!

Revelations - A Musical Anthology, based upon artists who appeared at the 1971 Glastonbury, including otherwise unreleased rare live & studio material Complete with 32-page booklet - Revelations (REV1/2/3) issued 1972.

This is one of my copies of the recording of GLASTONBURY FAYRE, the very first Glastonbury Festival which was held in 1971 and was a true FREE FESTIVAL - no fences, no payment, and not much organisation really but a major achivement nonetheless!

This was released as a Triple LP Album on Revelation Records in 1972 in a limited edition of just 5,000 copies worldwide - This album is now almost 35 years old! It is musically fascinating ...... does Lemmy fall off the stage during Hawkwind's ‘Silver Machine’, did Pete Townshend really record such a sublime track as ‘Reading the Classifieds’, and of course in addition to PETE TOWNSHEND and HAWKWIND there is THE GRATEFUL DEAD, DAVID BOWIE, MARK BOLAN, EDGAR BROUGHTON, BRINSLEY SCHWARTZ, MIGHTY BABY, GONG and the PINK FAIRIES. WOW MAN!!!!; What about that blanket in my muesli??????

It cost just £3.99 when it came out and most of the 5,000 copies in good condition have been destroyed by the ravages of time, and large burning lumps of dope with the inserts and sleeves torn up to make reefers, no doubt! I’ve seen copies go for over £350 on ebay!

This copy is in excellent++ condition and all of the vinyl plays perfectly - a few crackles as you would expect of an album of this age but no visible - or audible scratches. It comes with the 32 page Electric Score booklet but has no other inserts. If you want all of the inserts you can order the re-issue of the album soon to be released on Akarma records and no-one will no the difference! Having said that it is intact and in very good condition and if it were framed would be a unique item that no-one else IN THE WORLD would have on their walls!

 Glastonbury Fayre was held at Worthy Farm, Pilton, near Shepton Mallet, Somerset, from Sunday June 20 to Thursday June 24, 1971 encompassing Midsummers Day.

There was no monetary profit - it was free.

It had been planned by Andrew Kerr (Randolph Churchill's PA for many years) and Arabella Churchill who felt all other festivals at the time were over commercialised. It was paid for by the few who supported the ideal so the entrance was free and took a medieval tradition of music, dance, poetry, theatre, lights and spontaneous entertainment. It was in this year that the first "pyramid" stage was constructed out of scaffolding and expanded metal covered with plastic sheeting, built on a site above the Glastonbury-Stonehenge ley line.
