Description
Reverend Gary Davis' "At Newport" features acoustic blues style 6 and 12 string picking, along with voice and mouth harp. The record grading is Very Good Plus (VG+) and the sleeve grading is Good Plus (G+) due to the seam splits (top one appears to be repaired with glue) and name penned on both covers - see pictures for details. This is one of the few handful of recordings to feature the Rev. Gary Davis live; this one from the 1965 Newport Folk Festival. The repertoire incorporates a wide range of secular blues and sacred gospel standards like "Lovin' Spoonful" and "I Won't Be Back No More.", along with some of his best-known religious sides like "Death Don't Have No Mercy" and "Twelve Gates to the City."
