Description
Prestige Folklore 14028, “Pure Religion” with Rev. Gary Davis, guitar and vocals, from 1964. This is a repackaging of his Bluesville 1015 LP from three years earlier. Original green banjo-label vinyl plays at VG+ with frequent light background static that is mainly audible between tracks. The laminated jacket has strong seams all around with little corner wear, and is clean with no writing, stamps, or bends; there is a discolored edge on the back. Numbers are “Samson and Delilah”, “Let Us Get Together Right Down Here”, “I Belong to the Band”, “Pure Religion”, “Great Change Since I Been Born”, “Death Don’t Have No Mercy”, “Twelve Gates to the City”, “Goin’ to Sit Down on the Banks of the River”, “Tryin’ to Get Home”, “Lo, I Be with You Always”, “I Am the Light of This World”, and “Lord, I Feel Just Like Goin’ On”. Prestige Folklore was one of the great imprints from the heady days of the folk revival; this is one of a sequenced set of Prestige folk LPs listed this week. Shipping is $4.00 media mail, $8.00 priority mail within the continental U.S.; $18.00 regular airmail to the U.K., Europe, Japan, Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. A few record labels such as Folkways may be slightly more expensive to ship overseas. Additional LPs in a single package are $1.00 additional within U.S. and Canada, $2.00 elsewhere. For overseas shipments, registered mail is strongly recommended at $11.75 extra. Many old records are practically antiques and should be treated that way. This LP will be packaged with the record inside an inner sleeve but outside the jacket; both are placed inside a sealed outer sleeve and shipped inside a special oversized handcrafted mailer with padding on all sides. It is designed thick enough not to be bent in transit and strong enough to withstand a drop from a second-story window. More than two LPs together may be mailed inside a heavy Bags Unlimited pizza-style box. Your LP should arrive in the same condition as on the day it was shipped. All used LPs are play-graded on a VPI turntable with Audioquest tonearm and Grado cartridge.
