Decca Gold DXE 179 w/ 7” Promo Disc –
VERY RARE!
Wonderful violin concept from Decca, GLORY OF CREMONA features virtuoso Ruggiero Ricci playing compositions on 15 famous violins created by the likes of Stradivari, Del Gesu, Amati, Bergonzi, Da Salo, and others.
Along with piano accompanist Leon Pommers, Ricci delivers music of Vivaldi, Handel, Paganini, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Schumann, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Nardini, Veracini, Paradis, Desplanes, Hubay, Kabalevsky, and Bruch.
In addition, at the back of the gatefold is a 7” LP featuring an excerpt from VIOLIN CONCERTO IN G MINOR, on which Ricci plays the piece on all 15 violins.
Gatefold cover simply shows its age in yellowing; otherwise, no major faults. Inside, the heavy platter gold label is in NM- to VG+ condition, while the 7” is VG+, though note that side 2 has three bands of bad pressing, showing damage.
A very rare musical enterprise, incredibly hard to find.

Shipping and handling is $5 for up to 5 LPs shipped within the States. Internationally, $15 via airmail for the first LP, $3 each thereafter. (Canada is half that.) Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $6, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail. Note, too, boxed sets of LPs require more postage.
