The Cool Voice of Rita Reys No. 2-LP  

Philips (Holland) P 08010 L-Mono, 1957

Rare 1957 33 1/3 RPM 1st press Holland Jazz vocal LP release by Rita Reys.  Her cool vocal style was comparable to June Christy and Sarah Vaughan. She was off to an auspicious start with her 1st LP in 1955 (listed as well now !!!!!), recorded with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers! She was known as the "First Lady of European Jazz." LP at hand is her 2nd LP, from 1957 (released in the US as "Her Name is Rita Reys" on Epic Records). Reys is accompanied on the A side by Tom Dissevelt and His Orchestra-this side is purely Jazz with sensitive big band accompaniment. She is backed on the B side by Jan Corduwener and His Orchestra. This side features some tastefully employed strings.

 Glossy cover in general in excellent condition, with exception of right bottom corner which is damaged and has some taping. Vinyl plays fairly well with moderate surface noise and small tics, hence the VG+/VG++ condition BUT this lp sounds really beautifull, audiophile and still very audible.

AS ALREADY MENTIONED EARLIER IN THE DESCRIPTION PLEASE NOTE RITA'S FIRST COOL VOICE LP IS ALSO ON AUCTION, AS THIS ONE THE FIRST ORIGINAL DUTCH PRESSING !!!!

Very rare Jazz Vocal LP-a little below my usual standards for condition but offered here for a low price without reserve due to it's extreme rarity!
