Description
Available here is a rarity in vinyl: a four-song EP from Ritchie Valens, released in 1960 on Del-Fi records (DFEP-111). This is part of the Limited Valens Memorial Series and features four great songs.
Side 1
"Bluebirds Over the Mountain" "Come On, Let's Go"
Side 2
"Hi Tone" "Donna"
This EP has been around for nearly 60 years, originally purchased by my oldest brother, and has been in the family ever since, always in a smoke-free home. It has been played a bunch. There are plenty of scratches on each side, but I have play tested the record and it plays through with no skips, and the music is not overpowered by the surface noise. Each label is complete and in good shape; each has a small number sticker on it, and one label has a prior owner's name written on it. It comes in a generic paper sleeve.
Ritchie Valens had a meteoric career and of course, he was in the plane with Buddy Holly when it went down in 1959 - "the day the music died", per Don McLean's classic song "American Pie". He was just 17 years old and his recording career lasted only eight months, but he left us with such classics as "La Bamba", and two of the tracks on this EP - "Donna" and "Come On, Let's Go". He was posthumously elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
