Description

Robert Johnson-Me And the Devil Blues b/w Little Queen Of Spades, Vocalion # 04108, Master # DAL 398 / DAL 395, 78 RPM, 1938. Record is in only "Good" Condition, using Les Docks American Premium Record guide guidelines, with scuffing, scratches and some grayness to the grooves from leading a "sleeveless" existence. I cleaned it on a Nitty Gritty type cleaner (from KAB). On Me and the Devil  Blues, there is some distortion here and there, especially when he sings the high"Whooo". Scratches are audible, but not overwhelming in my opinion. The same applies to "Little Queen of Spades". There are not any scratches that last for more than a few revolutions on either side. There are no cracks or chips, and the labels are still in fairly good condition. This was an estate sale find. I couldn't believe my eyes as I sifted through yet another pile of common 20s and 30s 78s. I had to keep moving fast, as they were about to close, but after looking through the rest of the records, this was the only Robert Johnson I found. I have never seen one in over 25 years of collecting 78s. I'm happy to have it, but I hope there is someone who will really love it and give it a good home. I can send mp3s of both sides if you include your e-mail address in the "Ask a question" section. I used a Technics SL-D2 Turntable, retro-fitted to 78 RPM by KAB and a Shure M91ED Cartridge with an Ed Saunders 78 Stylus. I will ship it sandwiched in rigid cardboard and lots of bubble wrap. Please ask any questions before bidding. Thanks!

Hi, Because the bids are so high on this record, I am worried that I may not have been clear about the scratches. When I said that no scratches last for more than a few revolutions, I meant that when listening to the record they did not last for very long. When you look at the record, some scratches appear very long. It is very hard to photograph records to show all the defects. If you want to retract your bid, I will agree to that. I only want to be honest in my description. Thank you.
